I tutor German language. I feel that making students feel very comfortable with the grammar and comfortable speaking in a conversational setting are the most important aspects of learning German. I try to teach difficult aspects of the language by using realistic conversations with students; I don't feel a student can really understand why something is correct until he or she can tell that it "just sounds right like this." I feel that developing a student's ability to tell "what sounds right" is best accomplished by using the language in conversation, not just explaining the grammar behind something, though that is also important.
